Frequently Asked Questions
With only a single RGB camera, FaceHeart Vitals™ measures the following health parameters:
- Heart Rate (HR, FDA-cleared)
- Blood Pressure (BP)
- Respiratory Rate (RR, FDA-cleared)
- Oxygen Saturation (SpO2)
- Heart Rate Variability (HRV)
- Stress Index
- Cardiovascular BMI
- Cardiovascular Age
- Atrial Fibrillation (AFib)
There are also other key biomarkers in the beta version: HbA1c, Hemoglobin, and Cholesterol.
A healthy heart does not work like a clock. Heartbeats fluctuate to adjust to sudden physical and psychological challenges.
Heart rate variability (HRV) is the variation in time between heartbeats and can provide valuable insights into your cardiovascular and nervous system health.
From your HRV result, six wellness indicators are derived, reflecting the balance between your sympathetic nervous system (SNS) and parasympathetic nervous system (PNS). When the SNS dominates, your body is in an active state. Conversely, when the PNS dominates, your body is more relaxed.
Remote photoplethysmography (rPPG) is a contactless technology that uses a standard camera and ambient light to measure physiological signals from the face. By analyzing subtle changes in skin color caused by blood flow, rPPG can capture vital signs without wearables, sensors, or physical contact.
FaceHeart's proprietary rPPG technology enables real-time health measurements through a simple facial scan. To learn more about how the technology works and the science behind it, visit Technology page.
FaceHeart Vitals™ uses remote photoplethysmography (rPPG) technology to measure vital signs through a standard camera.
By analyzing subtle changes in facial skin color caused by blood circulation, our AI-powered algorithms can estimate key health metrics in real time—without physical contact, wearables, or specialized hardware.

A single measurement takes approximately 50 seconds using a simple facial scan.
The scanning time allows the technology to capture and analyze sufficient physiological signals to ensure accurate and reliable vital sign measurements.
The process is completely contactless and does not require any wearable devices or physical sensors.
No. FaceHeart Vitals™ only requires a standard RGB camera—no special hardware, infrared sensors, or wearable devices are needed.
No. FaceHeart Vitals™ SDK is designed to run directly on terminal devices, enabling real-time vital sign measurements without requiring a continuous internet connection.

Yes. FaceHeart Vitals™ is designed to support real-world usage conditions and can perform measurements with users wearing glasses or having facial hair.
The technology can also tolerate slight movements during measurement. For the best accuracy, users should maintain a clear view of the face and minimize excessive movement during the scan.
FaceHeart Vitals™ supports privacy-focused deployment by enabling on-device processing. FaceHeart does not store or access users’ health data, and data ownership remains with the customer.
Health data handling and storage policies can be managed according to each customer's requirements and applicable privacy regulations.
FaceHeart Vitals™ is currently validated and intended for users aged 18 and above.
Heart Rate measurement for newborns is available in beta development.
For specific age-group requirements, please contact our team.
We are actively expanding our regulatory roadmap to support additional clinical-grade vital sign measurements. Beyond current capabilities, we are working toward FDA clearance for blood pressure measurement, oxygen saturation (SpO₂), and atrial fibrillation (AFib) detection.
FaceHeart Vitals™ supports privacy-focused deployment through on-device processing, allowing measurements to be performed directly on compatible terminal devices.
FaceHeart does not store or access users’ health data, and customers retain full ownership and control of the data generated through the solution.
FaceHeart Vitals™ (registered as FH Vitals SDK) is the first video-based vital sign solution to receive FDA 510(k) clearance as a Class II Software as Medical Device (SaMD).
Until 2026, FaceHeart Vitals™ has received two FDA clearances:
- Pulse Rate Measurement (k223622)
- Respiratory Rate Measurement (k243966)
To optimize the algorithm and verify measuring accuracy, FaceHeart has conducted numerous clinical trials with top hospitals in multiple regions, collecting 400+ million datasets from 36,000+ testers (2026).
FaceHeart Vitals™ is built on science-backed remote photoplethysmography (rPPG) technology and advanced AI algorithms. The technology has been developed and validated through clinical studies, demonstrating its ability to capture physiological signals through a standard camera.
With FDA-cleared vital sign measurements and clinical validation, FaceHeart Vitals™ enables reliable, contactless health monitoring for healthcare applications.
